Cassius Timoney Perelman, aged 19 years, two months and 15 days, died of a suspected overdose on Oct 14, 2025.
Born in San Diego, he moved to Oakland in Kindergarten, Nevada City in middle school, El Cerrito for high school (to play D1 football as the quarterback), and landed in Grass Valley post-graduation.
We are all heart-broken by a life taken far too early. Taking a year to figure out what he wanted, he was to start Sierra College this spring with the end goal of becoming a traveling nurse. He loved driving and was working on his step dad’s old LandRover, having just replaced the fuel pump with the help of a YouTube video. He was picking up guitar, having raided his papa’s collection. Later this month, he and his sister (16) were planning on a road trip to go see a concert. She always made sure his eyebrows were on point. When he’d pick up his lil’ brother, he’d swing through “StarBees” or get him froyo, and he was so good at pumping his brother up for sportsball games.
Cash loved playing baseball (pitcher) & football (QB); read the Harry Potter series countless times; and loved Star Wars and Legos. He was an avid gamer, having reached top 100 in Madden during high school. He never got to finish reading Dune or watching Peacemaker.
Cassius is loved by his Mama, Elise Timoney Jackson; step-father Cody Jackson; Papa, Loren Perelman; step-mother Suki Khalsa; sister, Vivienne (16); brother, August (11); grandparents, Dave Timoney & Holly Lusk; Uncle Jon Timoney; great-grandmother, Jean Lusk; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends, and colleagues.
He was witty, slightly goofy, could actually whistle a tune, and gave great hugs. Car karaoke was becoming his specialty.
Our hearts are emptier without your presence, but our souls are more complete having had you in our lives.
Graveside funeral services start at 1pm on Monday, October 20, at Loney-Stanford Cemetery in Grass Valley. Celebration of life immediately to follow at Costello Vista, around 2pm. Please carpool and feel free to bring a piece of paper with your thoughts/prayers/lyrics to place on his coffin or to simply join us after the funeral at Costello Vista.
