Coastal Bliss – photo exhibit by Shelley Carlisle

Join Shelley Carlisle and her dazzling photographs of the Pacific coast for an exhibit from May 2 through July 5, 2024, at the Edward Jones gallery on Brunswick Ave in Grass Valley.   Amidst her brilliant and award winning sunsets and ocean-scapes,  she will highlight shots of the Northern Elephant Seals as they gather on beaches of the central coast.  An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 2 from 4:00-6:00 pm.  The 20-photo exhibit will be open daily during normal business hours of Mon – Fri from 9:00 – 4:00 pm.

“One of my favorite subjects to photograph are the Northern Elephant Seal pups during birthing season at several California rookeries. The Piedras Blancas rookery, near Hearst Castle is one of my favorite locations.  You can view the pups easily due to the proximity of the boardwalk.  Standing in one place, you can watch the babies play, nudge, gurgle, scream, and often climb over each other while hanging together in their little “gangs”.   Entertaining, meditative, and never disappointing!  And the comeback of the elephant seal population is amazing and a testament to Mother Nature and the importance of environmental protection,” said Shelley Carlisle.

“In my search for the Divine Feminine within myself the past several years, I rediscovered my deep love of photography and traveling to the grounding and healing landscapes of forests, deserts, canyons, mountains, and beaches.  This search has not only generated personal healing but has deepened my appreciation and awe of other species and the tribulations they go through as well as how we can support them.  I hope to inspire viewers to reconnect with Mother Nature and their own inner Sacred Feminine,” continued Carlisle.
