Colfax Wastewater Burn planned for June 17

Auburn- Smoke may be visible in Colfax and surrounding areas from Wednesday, June 17th through Thursday, June 18, 2026.

CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department is implementing a live fire operation around the Colfax Wastewater Treatment Plant near Grand View Ave in Colfax. Weather conditions permitting, the burn will begin Wednesday June 17^th at 8:00 am.

This burn will help reduce the fuel load while converting up to 23 acres of underbrush to native vegetation. The prescribed burn will also offer training to area firefighters. The burn will be ignited starting around 8:00 a.m. and be completed by 3:00 p.m. each day. Smoke will be visible in the Colfax area and surrounding communities.

Resources will remain at scene until all fire is extinguished and continue to

check the burn for several days following the project’s completion.
