Grass Valley, Calif. — October 14, 2024 — Community Beyond Violence, western Nevada County’s largest provider of crisis intervention, safety, advocacy, and education to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and our community, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Nunn Provost as our new Executive Director, effective tomorrow.
Ms. Provost brings to CBV over 20 years of leadership experience serving as an advocate for people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. In assuming the role of Executive Director, she is relocating from her long-time home of Sonoma County and joining our community as a seasoned and successful leader for this critical and impactful organization. From 2017 to 2023, Ms. Provost served in multiple roles for YWCA Sonoma County, including serving as Director of Domestic Violence Services, a post she held starting in 2020. Prior to her time in Sonoma County, Ms. Provost built an 18-year career at STOP Domestic Violence for Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN) in Plattsburgh, New York. Like western Nevada County, the community of Plattsburgh enjoys tremendous diversity and a thriving community of advocacy, which she supported through her expanding role in the organization, culminating in serving as Assistant Director beginning in 2011 and Program Director from 2015 through 2016. Jessica is a native of the Adirondacks in upstate New York and graduated from the State University of New York Plattsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
“We are overjoyed to welcome to Jessica as CBV’s next executive director” commented Kellea Miller, President of the Board of Directors of CBV. “Jessica’s extensive experience and career-long dedication to advocacy make her an inspiring leader for our organization, and we are all excited to see her establish new roots in our community. I’d also like to thank Allison Bischofberger who has graciously stepped in – not just once, but twice – to serve as CBV Interim Executive Director, and we could not be more thrilled to see her continue her essential contributions as CBV’s new Chief Operating Officer working in close partnership with Jessica. We are confident that the amazing team of dedicated advocates and staff, in concert with our new leadership, will enable continued strength of this vital organization.”
“I am both honored and humbled to be chosen as the new Executive Director of CBV,” commented Ms. Provost. “I am eager to jump right into the unique attributes and challenges of leading this critical organization within the dynamic and inspiring community of West County. I look forward to engaging with additional community leaders and this incredible staff in realizing the mission and vision of CBV during this important time.”
