October 2, 2017 – Nevada County’s Office of Emergency Services and Public Health: Emergency Preparedness are hosting an Emergency Preparedness Day on October 7th in collaboration with the Grass Valley Police Department, Grass Valley Fire Department, Nevada County Veterinary Disaster Response Team, and Amateur Radio Emergency Services. The FREE all-day event, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will be at the Grass Valley Fire Department Station 2 and lunch will be provided.

Learn how different public safety agencies interact during times of emergencies, and what you can do to prepare yourself and your family through interactive activities. The event will include an emergency vehicle demonstration, how you can medically prepare to yourself for an evacuation, how to protect your pets in an emergency, review of emergency communications using radio when internet is not available, and a wildland hoselay and a hoist operation demonstration. Please remember to dress comfortably with sturdy shoes.
