February 16, 2020 – Smoke may be visible in Iowa Hill and Colfax due to pile burning Monday and Tuesday, Feb 17th and 18th, on the North Fork American River Fuel Break project.
If conditions are favorable for burning, firefighters will start burning a total of 20 piles between two locations at 9:30 am and ending at 3:00 pm Monday and Tuesday.
Smoke may be visible near Iowa Hill Road and Burn Flat Road around the Mineral Bar campground. The second site is off Wagon Trail Road near Colfax.
This burn is part of the ongoing fuel reduction efforts on the North Fork American River Fuel Break.
CAL FIRE hand crews and fire engines will be on site from the beginning to the end of the pile burning each day. Resources will remain at scene until all fire is extinguished and continue to check the burn for several days following the project’s completion.
