September 28, 2017 – Warm and dry Today. Slight cooling for Friday into the weekend.

Short term discussion (Tonight through Sunday)

Upper level high pressure ridge will remain in place Today. Friday through Sunday will see a trough of low pressure develop over NorCal. This will bring an area-wide temperature drop of 5-10 degrees. Valley high temperatures Friday through Sunday will be in the 80’s. Moisture will remain just north of area over Oregon over the weekend.

Extended discussion (Monday through Thursday)

Upper trough forecast to deepen over the interior West early next week with the region generally forecast to be on the backside of the trough, generally not a pattern conducive for widespread pops across interior NorCal. Model discrepancies continue to lend poor confidence in the details, so have kept low chance pops across the far northern portions of the forecast area. Temperatures will lower to below average along with periods of gusty north winds.
