July 29, 2019 – Temperatures are forecast to be near or slightly below normal this week. Winds will mostly be from the south with the Delta Breeze making guest appearances this week for portions of the Valley.

A trough over the west coast will influence our weather through the work week. Our high temperatures are forecast to be seasonal to perhaps a few degrees below normal. At times, southerly and locally breezy winds and the Delta Breeze will be present which should bring some relief to portions of the Sacramento Valley. With the Delta Breeze and troughing also comes the possibility of some stratus penetrating into the Sacramento area.
Extended Discussion (Friday through Monday)
Extended period starts out under continued stable southwest flow aloft between high pressure ridge over the four corners U.S. area and a trough over the Pacific Northwest. Overall airmass and moderate onshore flow/delta breeze will keep daytime highs near or a little below normal. GFS Ensemble members showing a fairly significant spread over the west coast but majority build southwest U.S. ridge back west for a slight warming trend Saturday and Sunday. Stable southwest flow aloft continues though so daytime highs only warm to slightly above normal and showers remain out of the forecast. A lot of uncertainty at this time in the 8 day forecast so best bet for now is to go persistence going into early next week.
