Grass Valley – Shimmy Mob is excited to announce the 2026 world wide dance event happening Saturday May 9th, which brings together volunteer teams from around the world to dance to the same song on the same day, all while wearing the same style t-shirt and raising awareness about domestic violence prevention and education. There are currently teams in 193 countries participating.

Dance as one around the globe

The 2026 Shimmy Mob dance event aims to bring people together to show their support for domestic violence prevention and healing from abuse, and to raise funds for local domestic violence shelters. The event is open to anyone who wants to join a volunteer team and dance for a cause, and it is a great opportunity for people to get involved and make a difference in their community.

“We are excited to bring people together through dance and to raise awareness about an important issue that affects so many people,” said Francesca Anastasi (aka Sabeya), founder of Shimmy Mob. “By participating in this event, people can show their support for domestic violence prevention and help raise funds for local shelters and support services.

Our Grass Valley Team will be performing a short dance at the following locations on Saturday, May 9:

1pm at Petra Cafe in Nevada City
2pm at Briar Patch in Grass Valley

We will be accepting donations for our local organization Women of Worth.
