Grass Valley, California – Calling all nonprofits and cooperative organizations!

The application deadline for BriarPatch Food Co-op’s 2023 Round Up at the Register donation program is right around the corner… August 31, 2022.

Eligible organizations must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or a cooperative organization with a mission to build a sustainable and equitable world by supporting healthy people, animals and the environment.

Every year, BriarPatch shoppers can choose to round up their purchase price at checkout to the nearest dollar (or more). This money is then donated to the dedicated nonprofit organization of the month. Each selected organization will receive 100 percent of these donations, often totaling thousands of dollars.

Round Up at the Register

Qualifying applicants will demonstrate a focus to improve the quality of life in their community in one of the following areas: Community Health & Wellness, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Environmental Issues, Food Systems and Agriculture, Local Area Schools, Local Arts and Culture, Organizations in Support of Co-ops or Social Services and Food Access.

A review team made up of BriarPatch employees will evaluate applications and democratically choose recipients based on several factors. Organizations must be able to demonstrate how they are working to address root problems and issues in the community and show how Round Up at the Register funding will help make a positive impact.

The deadline for eligible nonprofit and cooperative organizations to apply is August 31.

Since 2015, BriarPatch shoppers have raised nearly $275,000 to support trails, protect rivers, rescue animals, keep kids safe, promote sustainable agriculture, ensure access to healthy food and more.

BriarPatch is expected to open a second store location in the old Kmart building on Bell Road in Auburn, California winter 2023. Since 1976, the Co-op has been based in Grass Valley.
