Nevada County, CA – On May 28, Nevada County Office of Emergency Services (OES), in partnership with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a countywide test of the Nevada County Alerts emergency notification system.

Nevada County Alerts is Nevada County’s opt-in emergency alert system, which replaced CodeRED on April 14, 2026.

The County-wide test was an opportunity to test deployment and for community members to verify that they received alerts. Residents will have received alerts via text, phone call or email if they provided one.

Nevada County Alerts allows residents to receive notifications for up to five addresses within Nevada County. Since the County-wide test was run by Supervisorial District, residents may have received fewer alerts than the total number of addresses they registered. For example, if multiple addresses are within the same Supervisorial District only one alert would have been received.

If you signed up for CodeRED prior to March 2025, your data have been migrated to the new system, simply navigate to the right-hand sidebar of the login platform and update your information or add additional addresses by logging in with your email and phone number.

Residents who did not receive the alert during the May 28 test are encouraged to visit ReadyNevadaCounty.org/EmergencyAlerts to verify or update their information. For assistance contact 211 Connecting Point by dialing 2-1-1 or 1-833-DIAL211 to connect with a local call center agent.

Nevada County Alerts allows you to receive notifications about up to five addresses in Nevada County. Nevada County Alerts may come from up to five different phone numbers. Using multiple numbers helps ensure alerts are delivered quickly, even during high-volume emergencies. Residents are encouraged to save these numbers to their contacts so they can easily recognize Nevada County Alerts:

  • 530-394-6160
  • 530-248-7554
  • 530-248-7559
  • 530-248-7564
  • 530-385-0422

Nevada County Alerts is the only emergency notification system residents can proactively sign up for in advance of an emergency. During wildfires and other emergencies, Nevada County residents may receive emergency information through four primary methods:

Opt-In Emergency Alerts: Sign up to receive alerts via landline and cell phone calls, email, and texts for emergencies impacting your home address.

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs): Notifications to your cell phone based on location. WEAs do not require registration and are issued by local government as part of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System.

Emergency Alert System (EAS): Alerts radio listeners and TV viewers. EAS do not require registration and are issued by local government as part of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System.

Hi-Low Siren: Alerts neighborhoods of an evacuation order using a European-style, two-tone siren.
