MARYSVILLE – Caltrans is alerting motorists that Interstate 80 and State Highway 20 in the Sierra will be closed early Saturday morning for PG&E emergency repair work.

PG&E crews will be repairing a transmission line at Cisco Grove and a distribution line at Kingvale than run over interstate 80 to re-establish power to the lines, which were damaged and fell onto the interstate during a storm earlier this week that closed the interstate for several hours.

Caltrans will set up traffic controls to either hold or turn around vehicles – depending on the traffic volumes – at the following locations:

· Westbound 80 at the Nevada state line, trucks only, starting at 4:15 a.m.
· WB at Donner Lake Interchange, 4:45 a.m.
· WB at Kingvale, 5 a.m.
· Eastbound at Nyack, 4:45 a.m.
· EB at Cisco Grove, 5 a.m.
· EB 20 in Nevada City, 4 a.m. (local traffic OK)

All lanes are scheduled to be reopened by 7 a.m., but weather or unexpected events could delay the work.

District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties.
