GRASS VALLEY, Calif. April 17, 2024 – “As our July opening gets closer every day, it’s important for older residents to express what kinds of activities and programs our new center should offer,” says Program Director Emily Wilson, “and we want to hear their views first-hand.

Enthusiasm for the long-awaited Community Senior Center is strong, and many local seniors have already helped shape its future.
Enthusiasm for the long-awaited Community Senior Center is strong, and many local seniors have already helped shape its future.

“That’s why I’m inviting neighborhood groups, social clubs, churches, and community-support organizations to share their thoughts about the center’s future and how it can enrich their lives.”

Recently, Wilson has facilitated discussion groups at Cascade Shores and Alta Sierra Country Club. She is currently scheduling additional dates at other convenient venues.

Such groups also provide an opportunity to make sure everyone knows what a difference this new amenity, located at 231 Colfax Avenue, Grass Valley, will make – not only for mature residents, but for residents of all ages. “There will be a variety of ways to socialize and be creative, plus many educational classes, including ones to help maintain health and fitness,” she explains.

“Typically, we meet for an hour and exchange ideas about how to make the Community Senior Center meaningful. Since it’s everyone’s center, each voice matters.”
