SACRAMENTO, Calif. September 18, 2019 – Englebright Lake will celebrate National Public Lands Day by waiving fees for its day-use recreation areas and hosting volunteers for a number of park improvement projects on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Officially, National Public Lands Day is Sept. 28, but Englebright Lake will celebrate it a week early to align their efforts with other clean-up projects in the area.

Volunteer projects will be from 8:00 a.m. to noon, and free lunch will be provided for afterward. Volunteers will also receive a coupon for a free day-use admission pass that’s good for a year at any park managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or U.S. Bureau of Land Management.

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. For more than two decades, outdoor enthusiasts have come together to improve local recreation areas by helping with landscaping, small construction projects, litter removal and trail maintenance.

“National Public Lands Day is such a fun and cool event. Families, friends, park regulars, community groups, they all come out to help make our recreation areas look great for everyone,” said Alicia Kohl, Sacramento District Senior Park Ranger.

Volunteers are encouraged to contact Englebright Lake at 530-432-6427 for more information but can simply show up on Saturday, Sept. 21 to pitch in.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is one of America’s largest providers of federal outdoor recreation, serving more than 370 million visitors annually at 422 lake and river recreation parks in 43 states.
