Cheers, laughter, and the sound of feet hitting fresh turf filled the air today as the brand-new Seven Hills Middle School field officially opened to students and the community. After months of anticipation, students ran with joy across the lush green grass, celebrating the long-awaited transformation of their outdoor space. A cool treat added to the festive spirit of the day.
Nevada City School District Board President Sandra Barrington, Superintendent John Baggett, Principal Sam Schug, and City Engineer Bryan McAlister joined staff and students to celebrate the grand opening. Together, they watched as the vibrant new space came to life with movement, energy, and excitement.
The upgraded field features lush new grass, a decomposed granite perimeter path, and improved drainage, resurfacing, and a modernized irrigation systemโall designed to enhance both playability and long-term sustainability. The revitalized space offers a safe, welcoming area for physical education, school events, and community enjoyment.
This marks Phase 1 of the field upgrade project, made possible through a collaborative grant effort between the Nevada City School District and the City of Nevada City, with expert landscape work provided by Weiss Brothers Landscaping. Their partnership and craftsmanship helped bring this vision to life, creating a space that students and the community will enjoy for years to come.
โThis field is more than just grass and graniteโitโs a space for play, friendship, and building memories,โ said Board President Barrington. โWeโre grateful to our partners at the City of Nevada City and Weiss Brothers Landscaping, and thrilled to see our students enjoying it to the fullest.โ
Stay tuned for future phases as the district continues to invest in outdoor spaces that promote learning, movement, and joy!
