February 4, 2019 – As predicted, the severe storm this past weekend has brought extremely cold temperatures and additional snow for the rest of this week. The National Weather Service is predicting heavy SNOW and COLD temperatures in the foothills tonight through Friday.
In an effort to collaborate over one of our most vulnerable populations, the City of Nevada City, Sierra Roots, Salvation Army and the County of Nevada have extended their Extreme Weather Shelter Protocol to include Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights (February 5th through morning of February 8th). This is an effort to continue to temporarily shelter homeless citizens in our community. Hours or operation are 4:30pm through 7:30am the next morning.
Both Extreme Weather Shelters will continue to be open until Friday morning, February 8th, and may extend their nights as weather conditions dictate.
