Nevada City, CA — The Nevada County Falls Prevention Coalition is pleased to announce the Falls Prevention Summit 2025, taking place on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sierra Presbyterian Church, 175 Ridge Road, Nevada City, CA.
This free, community-focused event is designed to empower older adults, caregivers, and community members with the knowledge and tools to prevent falls and promote lifelong wellness. While admission is free, advance registration is required, and attendees who register by Sunday, September 7th will receive a complimentary bag lunch.

This year’s summit theme, “Falling is a Trip,” reflects a lively and engaging approach to a serious topic. Attendees will benefit from expert presentations, interactive demonstrations, and practical strategies for staying safe, strong, and independent.
Program highlights include:
- Keynote Address: Falling is a Trip—but Not a Joyride by Hollie Grimaldi Flores, offering a heartfelt and humorous look at fall risks and resilience.
- Movement and Music: The Forever Young Chorus with Colleen Bond brings energy and joy through song and movement.
- Balance and Strength: Libby Woods presents Strong and Steady, sharing simple exercises to improve balance and build confidence.
- Emergency Response: EMT Ricky Hurtado Montes leads Make the Fall Call, highlighting how first responders assist during fall incidents.
- Nutrition Education: Liz Dreher of Foothills Compassionate Care explores how diet affects balance in Eating to Stay Steady.
- Fraud Awareness Skit: Avoiding the Pit “Falls” of Scammers, performed by Peter Stack and Melissa Hannebrink.
- Mindfulness & Breathwork: A grounding session with Homer titled Just Breathe.
- Community Resources: Jennifer Thomas from FREED discusses tools for independence in FREED from Falling.
