Moms on the Mountain is back Sunday, September 27, bringing women together for a full day of hiking, activities, food and fun, all while raising money for local students.
This year, the longtime Nevada County tradition moves to a new home at the ASC Training Center, next to Boreal Mountain Resort. The event is open to all women ages 18 and older, and despite the name, you don’t have to be a mom to join in.
Moms on the Mountain is the largest annual fundraiser for the Nevada City Schools Foundation, benefiting students at Deer Creek Elementary and Seven Hills Middle School. For years, the event has brought generations of women together for a noncompetitive day in the mountains centered on connection, community and giving back.
This year’s event will have a summer-camp feel, with hiking, a silent auction and activities throughout the day. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, hiking and all day-of activities, so participants can simply show up ready for a great day. Come with friends, bring a group or register on your own.

Local businesses and community members can get involved, too. Sponsorship opportunities are still available, and the Foundation is seeking donations for the silent auction. Gift certificates, experiences, products and services are all welcome, with proceeds helping support educational programs and opportunities for local students.
