April 18, 2018 – On 04-17-2018, at approximately 6:21 PM, a black Toyota SUV, being driven by an unnamed female adult (pending notification of next of kin), was traveling southbound on Dog Bar Road, north of Norvin Way, within unincorporated Nevada County.

Witnesses reported that the Toyota SUV was driving at a high rate of speed, in a reckless manner, and was involved in a hit and run traffic traffic collision north of this location.  As the Toyota SUV entered a curve within the roadway, at a high rate of speed (per a witness), the driver lost control, and the vehicle left the roadway in a southerly direction.

After leaving the roadway, the Toyota SUV collided with a metal traffic sign, and continued down an embankment.  The Toyota SUV then collided with a tree, and began overturning.  As the Toyota SUV overturned, the driver was fully ejected, and she landed within Norvin Way.  The driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.

The driver was the only occupant of the Toyota SUV and she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of this collision.  Alcohol appears to have been a factor in this collision.  This investigation is ongoing.  Any/all witnesses to the collision are encouraged to contact the CHP – Grass Valley Area office @ (530) 477-4900 (Attn: Officer J. Heggstrom).
