NEVADA CITY, Calif. May 4, 2017 – On 5/4/17 at approximately 10:45 AM, an as of yet unidentified male was driving a 2001 Honda CRV on eastbound SR-20 just west of Gold Flat Road. The male driver allowed the Honda to travel off the right side of the roadway and onto the embankment. The driver attempted to reenter the roadway and eventually lost control of the Honda.

The Honda traveled up the embankment and the left front of the Honda collided into a tree. The male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics.

Evidence at the scene indicated that the driver of the Honda was not wearing his seatbelt during the collision.

It has not been determined at this point if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision. This investigation is ongoing.

The Nevada County Sheriffs Department is concurrently involved in the investigation as to the identity of the Honda driver.
