AUBURN, Calif. October 11, 2019 – Placer County Environmental Utilities and Recology Auburn Placer are working together to provide free disposal of spoiled food to help customers recover from the recent Pacific Gas and Electric Company Public Safety Power Shutoff.
Disposing of spoiled food at a transfer station, instead of waiting for what could be several days before regular garbage service is provided, can also help deter bears and other wildlife from being drawn to the smell of the extra food waste.
“We want to help people get their homes and businesses back in order after so many days of being without power,” said Placer County Public Works Department Deputy Director Kevin Bell. “Providing a way to get spoiled food out of the house and on its way to a disposal facility as soon as possible is key in making that happen.”
The following transfer stations will have dedicated dumpsters for free food waste disposal through Oct. 14.
