Nevada City, Calif. – Honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces at a celebration Saturday, May 16 at the Nevada County Airport in Grass Valley.
The free event runs from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and all ages are welcome. Parking and shuttle service to the event is available at 12640 Loma Rica Drive, between Grass Valley Avenue and Nevada City Avenue.
“Armed Forces Day gives us an opportunity to pause and thank the men and women who have served our country,” said Nevada County Veterans Service Officer David West. “We’re proud to host an event that honors that service while welcoming the community for a fun day together.”

An opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., followed by live music and an enlistment ceremony at noon.
Highlights include:
- Aircraft rides (ticket purchase required)
- CAL FIRE Air Attack Base open house
- Classic car show
- Live music
- Food trucks
- Kids zone with games
- Interactive booths and demonstrations
- Military and community resource vendors.
