March 8, 2021 – On Friday, March 12th at 7pm, Nevada County’s non-profit classical music organization, Music in the Mountains, will host Grammy nominated wind quintet, Imani Winds, for a classical virtual concert with live and pre-recorded original content.
Celebrating over two decades of making music, the Grammy nominated Imani Winds has led the evolution of the wind quintet through their dynamic playing, adventurous programming, imaginative collaborations and outreach endeavors that have inspired audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Music in the Mountains (MIM) is excited to bring this world-class musical group to Nevada County via YouTube for an intimate evening and up-close performance that is not to be missed. Both classical music lovers and folks new to the genre will be delighted by the talent and vast repertoire of Imani Winds.
“I had the opportunity to hear Imani Winds last year and was absolutely blown away by their artistry, notes Artistic Director Ryan Murray. “They are truly one of the finest chamber groups in the world and I’m so excited to bring them to Music in the Mountains.”
The ensemble’s playlist embraces traditional chamber music, and additionally, as a 21st century group, Imani Winds is devoutly committed to expanding the wind quintet repertoire by commissioning music from new voices that reflect historical events and the times in which we currently live.
Throughout the pandemic, MIM has provided unique opportunities for intimate and up-close musical experiences for their patrons. The March 12th concert will include a live discussion with members of the group. The discussion will provide deeper insights into the music and what it’s like to perform as a professional chamber group.
