NEVADA CITY, Calif. April 5, 2019 – On the evening on April 3rd, 2019 the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office took a report from a 22-year-old woman who alleged she had been raped. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit took the victim’s statement and scheduled a forensic medical sexual assault exam.

The victim identified the suspect as 26-year-old Nicholas Carlozzi from Grass Valley. The victim and Mr. Carlozzi had previously been involved in a dating relationship. The alleged assault took place at Carlozzi’s residence in the 20000 block of Mockingbird Way on the evening of April 2nd, 2019.

On the afternoon of April 4th, 2019, Mr. Carlozzi was contacted at his residence by sheriff’s detectives and arrested. Deputies transported Mr. Carlozzi to the Nevada County Jail and booked him for the following charges:

1) 236 PC False Imprisonment
2) 261 PC Rape
3) 288a PC Forced Oral Copulation
4) 243(e)(1) PC Domestic Violence Battery
