Annual Health/Safety and Fire Preparedness Carnival

More than 2 dozen local child-oriented Organizations and Agencies will provide helpful information. On site will be many types of emergency equipment with demonstrations of safety procedures.

Our goals are to make children and their parents feel comfortable should emergency services be required and to assist families to prepare for wildfires.

Child safety seat inspections and new seats, if required, will be provided by the CHP. A Bicycle Rodeo will be hosted by the Grass Valley Police Department with new safety helmets if requested. Children’s floatation devices may be available for water safety. Personal Children’ s Identification Portfolios will be prepared for the family’s use in an emergency.

Attractions include a Free BBQ Lunch with salad, fresh fruit, juices, chips and popcorn. Children will be entertained with balloon animals created by a Clown, a Jump House and Giant Slide, Contests and Music. New bicycles will be presented to winners of Children’s Bingo. Smokey Bear, McGruff and other safety mascots will be circulating for photos with children.

We are anticipating approximately 1,000 participants to attend this event at the Rood Center, at 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City. Parking will be available adjacent to the 3 -acre event.
