June 19, 20, 21, and 22, 2025 at the Don Baggett Theater, Holt Ballet Conservatory presents a telling of the beloved classics, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Authored over 160 years ago by Lewis Carroll, the characters of these iconic stories live on, decade after decade, in book, film, animation, and our own imaginations. Bringing Alice and her Wonderland friends to life through music and dance, Holt Ballet captures the heart of the story while giving Wonderland a modern twist.

Holt Ballet Conservatory’s Alice in Wonderland ballet this June

Our Alice, 17 years old, finds herself caught between following her heart and obeying her elders. Defying her godmother, refusing her cousin’s marriage proposal, and running away from the family garden party, Alice finds herself regretting her new found ground up stubbornness and wishing she could just be a little girl again. When a white rabbit, in wainscot and tails, appears in the garden, admonishing  her for already being late, and encouraging her to hasten, Alice takes a chance, and follows.

To make her own life choices, Alice must believe in herself. Her tumble down the rabbit hole to Wonderland becomes an adventure that presents opportunities for her to challenge her adversaries and fight for her place in the world. To prevail over the Jabberwocky, the Red Queen, the Bandersnatch, and command the Vorpal Blade, Alice rises to the call of battle.

We all know the story, and the characters. But Holt Ballet’s telling of it will delight and entertain our audiences, show after show.

The ballet story, written by Yelena Holt, is brought to life through the work of 8 different choreographers, delightful music from centuries past and present, and the dancing of over 60 students of Holt’s classical ballet conservatory. The costumes are worth the ticket price, just in themselves.

Through music from all genres, our choreographers use their craft to develop the plot of our story: Tchaikovsky for depth and power, Madonna for fun and playfulness, Neal Diamond for a blast from the past, with neoclassical, avant garde, jazz, classical, rock, pop, and electronic music all gathered together to tell the story of the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter, the Dancing Flowers, the Jabberwocky, and all the characters of Wonderland.
