May 23, 2019 – At approximately 5:51 p.m., Yuba County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 transfer from California Highway Patrol regarding a car-to-car shooting with injured victims on Hwy 70 just south of Plumas Lake Blvd in south Yuba County. CHP, Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, and medical responded to find two gunshot wound victims.

The two victims were passengers in a vehicle traveling southbound Hwy 70 from Chico to Sacramento when they were shot by occupants in what was described as a gold sedan following an earlier verbal altercation between the vehicles in Marysville. The suspects were reportedly unknown to the victims. The driver of the victim vehicle was not injured. One victim died at the scene, and the second victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. All occupants of the victim vehicle were males. The identity of the deceased is being withheld following notification of next-of-kin.
