PLACER/NEVADA COUNTIES — Motorists in the Sierra foothills face a heavy week of overlapping construction closures starting Sunday, with Caltrans District 3 warning that cumulative delays on Interstate 80 alone could reach up to two hours depending on traffic volumes. Caltrans is urging drivers to build in extra travel time along the I-80 Sierra corridor and to check QuickMap (quickmap.dot.ca.gov) for real-time conditions before heading out.
