GRASS VALLEY, Calif. — Indivisible Nevada County (INC) will join communities across the country on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for No Kings 4: Vote Early, a nationwide day of action calling on Americans to defend democracy, participate in the upcoming election and make their voices heard at the ballot box.
The Nevada County demonstration will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Brunswick and Sutton in Grass Valley, bringing the community together around the message that has defined the No Kings movement: No thrones. No crowns. No kings.
But this time, with the November 3 election just over two weeks away, organizers are adding an urgent call to action: Turn people power into voter power.
“For more than a year, Americans have taken to the streets to make it clear that power in this country belongs to the people — not to kings, billionaires or politicians who believe they are above the law,” organizers with Indivisible Nevada County said. “On October 17, we’re taking that message to the ballot box. If we believe the people hold the power, then we have to use it.”
No Kings 4 comes at a critical moment in the 2026 election. In addition to the nationwide demonstrations, organizers are encouraging eligible voters to check their registration, learn what is on their ballot, understand their voting options, make a voting plan and vote early whenever possible.
The message is simple: Showing up matters. Voting matters. Democracy requires both.
In Nevada County, the October 17 event will also feature “Caravans to the Cause,” with participants gathering at the Grass Valley Senior Center in Grass Valley and the Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City before traveling to join the main demonstration at Brunswick and Sutton.
Standing Together for Our Community: No Kings Food Drive
In addition to standing up for democracy, Indivisible Nevada County is asking participants to show up for their neighbors by contributing to a community food drive supporting local families and individuals facing food insecurity.
Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to the demonstration and drop them off at the INC booth located on the Safeway corner at Brunswick and Sutton.
“Democracy is about more than what happens in Washington. It’s about how we show up for one another right here at home,” organizers said. “While we stand together to protect our rights and our democracy, we can also take meaningful action to help our neighbors. Bring a sign, bring a friend and bring a food donation if you can.”
The event builds on the extraordinary turnout of previous No Kings demonstrations locally and across the country. On October 18, 2025, approximately 3,500 people gathered in Nevada County for No Kings, making it one of the largest political demonstrations in the county in recent years.
“The No Kings movement has always been about one fundamental question: Who holds the power in America?” organizers said. “The answer is the people. On October 17, we will stand together to defend that principle — and then we will carry that power with us to the polls.”
Organizers emphasize that No Kings demonstrations are peaceful and grounded in nonviolent action. Participants are expected to act lawfully, de-escalate potential confrontations and help create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who attends.
“No Kings has never been just about one protest or one day,” organizers said. “It is about millions of ordinary people deciding that they will not sit on the sidelines while decisions about their communities and their futures are made for them. On October 17, we want Nevada County to show up, stand together, support our neighbors and then vote.”
