Nevada City, CA – Sierra Theatre Company and the Nevada Theatre are teaming up for a one-night-only musical benefit starring Sue LeGate-Halford as Janis Joplin, country swingers Kenny and the Crickets, and the folksy genius of the Buffalo Gals. All three bands will perform together at the Nevada Theatre on Sunday, September 28.

These beloved local musicians are banding together to raise money for the newly formed Sierra Theatre Company and the Nevada Theatre, which had to scramble to fill the seats this September when the LeGacy Presents production of Misery had to be rescheduled for March.

Headliner Sue LeGate-Halford is famous for her scorching Janis Joplin performances. A co-founder and producer of Legacy Presents, she was thrilled to jump onstage to help raise money for our local theatre community. If you haven’t heard Sue blow the roof off with her fiery interpretation of Joplin’s songs, you’re in for a huge treat!

Benefit of the Bands at the Nevada Theatre, Sunday, Sept 28

Kenny and the Crickets is Northern California’s premiere Americana country swing band, playing to adoring crowds since they started as Cousin Cricket in 1973. Their bluesy, spicy, swinging songs will have you dancing in the aisles. Rounding out the trio is Buffalo Gals, a true-to-their-roots string band whose traditional bluegrass twang has enchanted audiences far and wide. As an added bonus, local chanteuse Claire Diamante-Turner will dazzle the crowd with a delightful pre-show set.
