June 21, 2018 – In 2017 I announced my candidacy for the Nevada Irrigation District Board of Directors District 2 seat. Over these past 12 months I’ve come to appreciate the critical importance of water management in the Sierra Foothills.  I have also met an extraordinary group of concerned community members and NID employees.  We should be proud and thankful for these activists who are dedicated to ensuring a clean and reliable water supply for NID customers.  I believe the concerned citizens have helped bring to the forefront the need for new perspectives concerning our future water needs.

Unfortunately, the ongoing as well as new demands of my business have changed the equation concerning my candidacy.  As always, my family and business are my first priorities.  As a result, effective June 22th, I’m reluctantly withdrawing from the race.

I send my heartfelt thanks and admiration to the fine people who have supported my campaign and their work to improve NID.  We are a good community with many blessings. I will continue to support those in need in our community and to work to keep Nevada County a special and prosperous place to live.

  1. We will miss having a person of John’s work ethic, integrity and support for our community as an option on the NID Board of Directors ballot in November. As a person who has spent the past 20+ years in community service, I can appreciate the courage it takes to step back from an opportunity John was obviously passionate about pursuing to refocus on his priority of family and business commitments.
