With time, intention and great care, our latest efforts deliver a powerful demonstration of pairing collective Tribal memory with western historical records – culminating in unique educational experiences for the community and a powerful art exhibition. It is an exciting moment to celebrate Nisenan Culture together.”

Nisenan Tribal artists about their experiences and how art has become a tool for healing and Cultural expression.
‘Uba Seo exhibitions are part of CHIRP’s Visibility Through Art (VTA) initiative. VTA is a community-driven art program and an informed collaboration between local artists and members of the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe. Each project year explores a theme or subject of importance to the Tribe, culminating in a major exhibition. This installation is funded in part by the Decolonizing Wealth Project: California Truth and Healing Fund (CATH), which supports California Native American tribes and Native-led organizations advancing truth, healing, and repair across the state.
