NEVADA CITY, Calif. September 12, 2017 – Between 6:30 pm and 11:30 pm on Monday thunderstorms produced lightning and precipitation over the Tahoe National Forest.

WFMI BLM detected 72 strikes within the Tahoe – 4 for American River Ranger District, 23 for Truckee Ranger District, 34 for Sierraville Ranger District, and 11 for Yuba River Ranger District.

Reconnaissance flights over the National Forests are underway with small fires reported throughout the Sierra.

Currently a single tree on fire in the Mobley Springs area above the town site of North Bloomfield has been located and firefighters are on site. Helicopter 205 is over the fire.

The Eldorado National Forest has resources on the 1/2 acre Long fire. The fire is on the Georgetown District in the area of Long Canyon.

The Plumas National Forest is working the Rattlesnake Fire, a 1/4 acre fire near Canyon Dam in the Rattlesnake Hill Area as well as several holdovers from the weekend thunderstorms.
