NEVADA CITY, Calif. September 2, 2016 – The history of the American Revolution (1775-1783) comes alive Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 10-11) as part of Nevada City’s 50th Annual Constitution Day Parade and Celebration.
The Delaware Regiment of the Brigade of the American Revolution will gather under the pines at Pioneer Park to present “Revolutionary War Days,” two days of historical reenactments of our nation’s formative years.
Attractions include Continental and British solders and camps, fife and drum music by the California Consolidated Drum Band, soldier drills and musket firing demonstrations, and kids and adult drills with wooden muskets.
Colonial life demonstrations include myths and stories of the Revolution, civilian clothing and sewing, military weapons and uniforms, spinning wool and cotton, surgery and medicine and chocolate making.
Hours for the Pioneer Park events are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Delaware Regiment will then march in Sunday’s Constitution Day Parade, which begins at 2 p.m. in historic downtown Nevada City.
