NEVADA CITY, Calif. August 28, 2018 – At approximately 3:34 PM Monday afternoon, the Grass Valley CHP responded to a traffic collision with injuries on Purdon Rd north of B4 Ranch Rd. Upon our arrival we discovered a Ford F-250, driven by Mr. Staves, was approximately 30′ down a steep embankment after it overturned multiple times.

Mr. Staves was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected out during the collision, causing major injuries. He was transported by CALSTAR air ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he remains in critical condition early Tuesday morning.

CHP is handling the ongoing investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs are not a suspected factor in this collision. Purdon Rd was closed for approximately 1 hour during recovery of the pickup truck. In addition to CHP personnel, responding agencies included the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District, Sierra Nevada Ambulance, and CALSTAR.
