February 1, 2018 – The featured topic of the February 7th Community Support Network Partner meeting will be Mapping the Five Protective Factors in Western Nevada County. It will be an interactive meeting facilitated by Lindsay Dunckel, PhD, Executive Director of First 5 Nevada County and a CSN-CAPC board member.

The Five Protective Factors have been shown to increase family strengths, enhance child development, and reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect. The factors are: parental resilience, social connection, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need, and social and emotional competence of children.

Attendees are invited to bring their knowledge and experience to the February 7th meeting to help map what organizations, resources, and programs support the Five Protective Factors in Western Nevada County.

What’s being done well? Where are the gaps? Are there collaborations that could fill gaps? If there are more resources than necessary for some things, could those resources be re-directed?

There will also be a Building the Network Moment agenda item to learn about state and local activities planned for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April from Kristen McGrew, PARTNERS Family Resource Centers Countywide Coordinator and CSN-CAPC Board member.

The meeting will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018, 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the Gene Albaugh Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library, 980 Helling Way, in Nevada City. Community Support Network meetings are free and open to the public. For more information, contact CSN Coordinator Susan Sanford at 530-913-0270 (messages) or csnncorg@gmail.com.
