Classes are held Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 4 through April 8 on the Sierra Commons campus at 792A Searls Ave. in Nevada City.

Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Pre-registration is required. The all-inclusive cost is $425. Three scholarships are available based on demonstrated need and community benefit.

“Each Ignitor Course is given a unique name like March4th, because every class is specifically adapted to the particular goals of the individual students,” said Robert X Trent, executive director and course facilitator.

“The classroom environment is lively and interactive with students and instructors teaching and learning from each other. All instructors are highly accomplished professionals in their fields,” he added.

“The syllabus for March4th Ignitor includes everything from the mindset and mindfulness of running a business to conquering fears and obstacles to the nitty-gritty of bookkeeping, taxes, law, insurance, marketing and technology,” Trent said.

“I wouldn’t be where I am without Sierra Commons,” said Lilja Gudmundsdottir of fast-growing Lilja’s Cleaning Service. And, “I couldn’t get where I’m going without the Business Ignitor.”

In addition to the basic curriculum, students are also given access to free one-on-one mentoring in partnership with the Sierra Small Business Development Center.

Two networking events, a graduation party and the opportunity to continue meeting as a post-graduate working group are included in the Business Ignitor experience.

Sierra Commons is nonprofit community service organization founded in 2009. It offers coworking space for entrepreneurs and remote workers. Amenities include a comfortable, professional work environment, private meeting spaces, high-speed internet and Foxhound coffee.
