GRASS VALLEY, Calif. August 29, 2018 – On August 28, 2018, at approximately 2118 hours, Grass Valley resident Mr. Jason L. Adams, 44, was riding a Honda motorcycle westbound on Greenhorn Road just west of Dogwood Road in unincorporated Nevada County. Mr. Adams was wearing a motorcycle helmet. Based on preliminary investigation, Mr. Adams was operating the motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol (ETOH) and made an unsafe turn off the roadway edge.

Mr. Adams lost control of the motorcycle and left the paved asphalt road onto and across the south shoulder of Greenhorn Road. The motorcycle overturned down the embankment and Mr. Adams was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the embankment, He sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

Grass Valley Area CHP Officer C. Adams (#18771) received a broadcast from Sacramento Communications Center (SCC), commonly referred to as CHP dispatch, dispatching him to the traffic collision scene. He and other Grass Valley Area CHP units arrived at the scene.

Officer C. Adams placed Mr. Adams under arrest for misdemeanor DUI at approximately 2310 hours at the Sutter Roseville Medical Center (SRMC). Mr. Adams was released to SRMC medical personnel for the treatment of his significant injuries. He will remain in Neuro Intensive Care Unit indefinitely.

CHP – Grass Valley Area is conducting the ongoing investigation. Greenhorn Road, a lightly-traveled highway at the day and time, was partially blocked for short duration to allow for the collection of evidence and removal of involved vehicles and items.
