March 7, 2020 – Our concern is for the safety of our community. Music in the Mountains has been working with the California Youth Symphony and we have collaborated tonight on a decision to cancel our concert.

It is with strong regret but with sincere resolve that we announce to our community that, at this time, we have opted to cancel our premier concert with the California Youth Symphony as a precautionary measure in order to ensure the health and safety of our musicians and our community.

Nevada County continues to have no known cases of Covid-19 at this time. Music in the Mountains is dedicated to the health and safety of our community and we want to continue to ensure the comfort of our concert-goers and the confidence in our professional programming.

In light of the evolving situation with Coronavirus, and given the needed travel to bring the California Youth Symphony to our community, we believe that we cannot, at this time, produce this show in a full and complete way without putting our musicians and audience at risk.

For decades, Music in the Mountains has worked with partnership organizations across our state and nation to bring state-of-the-art programming to Nevada County.  Music in the Mountains will continue to bring professional musicians and programs to our community. We continue to keep the health and safety of our community at the forefront of all our productions.

This cancellation comes at a time when we are usually fundraising and supporting our programs.  This particular concert highlighted our dedication to young people and music education. We will be issuing refunds and/or exchanges to ticket holders as necessary but we ask our patrons to please consider donating their ticket back to our organization. We are also asking the public at this time to make donations to Music in the Mountains.  We are funded by community support and we need this support now more than ever.

Please support our community partners with your patronage. Our sponsors for this event include Foothill Flowers, Full Circle Financial, and Smarter Broadband.

Our 2020 Summerfest season begins on June 18th with an opening Gala event at the newly renovated Center for the Arts. We are confident that we will be able to bring to this community our planned programming for the summer.  Tickets for future events will be available on our website at musicinthemountains.org.
