February 23, 2017 – Grass Valley Police Department asked surrounding agencies to be on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a commercial burglary of over $600 worth of groceries from the local Raley’s market.
One of our patrol deputies located that vehicle on McCourtney Road near Brighton Street and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled from the deputy down State Route 20 toward Rough and Ready Highway. Identifying that speeds and traffic conditions were unsafe, our deputy was cancelled from further pursuit.
California Highway Patrol Officers and their air support unit located the vehicle in the Rough and Ready area and chased the vehicle again, this time up Rough and Ready Highway.
The vehicle crashed into an embankment off Rex Reservoir Road and the subjects foot-bailed. CHP detained the subjects and our units took over the investigation.
Two local females are facing charges of possession of stolen property, felony evading, drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to commit commercial burglary. Over $650 worth of groceries were recovered from the scene and returned to Raley’s by Grass Valley Police.
A great example of cooperation between local law enforcement agencies!
