Nevada City, Calif. — The City of Nevada City, in collaboration with WM, announce the annual Community Clean-Up event, set for Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event will take place at the Eric W. Rood Administrative Center, located at 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA 95959. Residents are invited to bring green waste, upholstered furniture, appliances, mattresses, and e-waste for disposal.
Acceptable green waste includes residential trees and plant trimmings, weeds, leaves, pine needles and branches. Restricted items include commercial green waste, scotch broom, poison oak, himalayan blackberry, tree stumps, root balls and items over four feet long or with a diameter greater than one foot. E-waste items acceptable for recycling are just about anything that plugs in. Items like computers, televisions, monitors, tablets, phones, stereos, and microwaves will be accepted.
Bulky items include appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, ovens and hot water heaters. Other acceptable items include upholstered furniture and mattresses. Hazardous waste and tires will not be accepted during this event.

This event is exclusively for Nevada City residents with three-digit addresses. Nevada County residents with five-digit addresses can participate in free green waste drop-off events on April 27th, May 11th, May 18th, and May 25th (Memorial Day), from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the McCourtney Transfer Station, 14741 Wolf Mountain Road, Grass Valley.
This initiative aims to encourage Nevada City residents to remove green waste from their properties, including trees, limbs, grasses, leaves, and needles, which could pose a fire hazard during the summer months.
To stay informed about this and future clean-up events, residents are encouraged to sign up for e-alerts on the
