Ashé Jordan (27) took 1st place in the All Star Jack & Jill division at the Brazilian Zouk World Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona, August 13–16, dancing with partner Marck Silva. Dancers came from all over the world for the competition.
Ashé has only been dancing Zouk for about 6 years – her background was mostly gymnastics and yoga before she discovered Brazilian Zouk and she really fell in love with it. Now she teaches zouk full time, between traveling internationally and here in Nevada City (at Sensa Movement studio), and once a year she hosts a 200+ person retreat (Sierra Zouk Retreat).
There’s also a family connection to dance — her great-grandmother was a partner dancer and kept dancing into her 90s, and Ashé still has her great-grandmother’s dance shoes.
