Nevada City, Calif. March 25, 2024 – On March 21, 2024 the Judicial Council of California (JCC) announced the “location for new Nevada City Courthouse narrowed down to three potential sites.” On February 14, 2024, the City Council appointed a Nevada City Courthouse Ad Hoc Committee comprised of Councilmember Doug Fleming, the City Manager, the City Engineer, and former councilmember and previous committee chair Paul Matson and identified the committee’s purpose, “to provide input to the City Manager and make recommendations to the City Council with regard to the land acquisition phase for the Nevada City Courthouse.” The committee has met and provided input to the City Manager to share with the JCC Project Advisory Group (PAG) which was included in the grading of fourteen potential sites which are now reduced to three finalists.

The Committee meeting is scheduled for 5:30pm April 2, 2024, at City Hall 317 Broad Street, Nevada City, California 95959. The Committee will receive an update on the three finalist sites and will ask for comments and input from all interested parties before considering any recommendation for future consideration of the City Council.
