As fire season approaches, the City of Nevada City is taking proactive steps to ensure community safety by hosting a series of workshops focused on wildfire evacuations. These events will adhere to the Ready, Set, Go framework, designed to equip residents with essential knowledge and skills for effective emergency response.

The City invites all residents to participate in these vital workshops to foster a prepared and resilient community. By attending, participants will gain valuable insights into emergency protocols and contribute to a safer, more informed Nevada City.

Workshop Details:

Ready – Part 1 (6:30 p.m. Thurs., April 10, 2025, at City Hall): This session will introduce participants to our Evacuation Maps, City Resources, and the Office of Emergency Services, emphasizing the importance of preparedness. Attendees will learn how to develop personalized evacuation plans tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.

Set – Part 2 (6:30 p.m. Thurs., May 8, 2025, at Miners Foundry): Participants will receive guidance on assembling a go-bag, identifying emergency contacts, and understanding emergency notifications and terms. Experts will provide tips on staying informed during emergencies and maintaining communication with loved ones.

Go – Part 3 (6:30 p.m. June 12, 2025, at Pioneer Park): An interactive workshop that allows attendees to apply their knowledge in a self-paced evacuation drill, followed by a community picnic and presentation at Pioneer Park. This innovative event will include a “lessons learned” segment to enhance community safety in wildfire scenarios. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with emergency response professionals and local leaders, fostering a collaborative approach to wildfire preparedness.
