Nevada City, CA, December 22, 2016 – The Nevada City Odd Fellows, Oustomah Lodge #16, IOOF, selected Uplift Family Services in Nevada City, to support this holiday season. Lodge members donated $540, and the Lodge matched those donations, for a total gift of $1080. Member Caroline Wilson was able to arrange a donation of Christmas trees as well.
Uplift Family Services supports seventy (70) Nevada County families with children in distress. From Deborah Stephenson, Clinical Program Manager Uplift Family Services:
“This year, Uplift Family Services is so very grateful that the Independent Order of Odd Fellows from Nevada City has chosen us to be the benefactor of their generous donation. The total collected was $1080 for the children we serve.
The Odd Fellow members donated money and the Odd Fellows Fellowship of Nevada City matched the generous donation. We also received Christmas trees from Odd Fellow member Caroline, who received the trees from Jack Tatitucci’s farm in Weimar.
Uplift Family Services is a statewide nonprofit agency, and our programs help children and adolescents with complex behavioral and emotional challenges, as well as their families.
Uplift Family Services will be distributing this generous contribution to our children and families. It will go towards the essentials that many of their Nevada County families truly need, such as food, winter outerwear, our holiday party for kids and their families and gifts for the holidays.
We do not have enough words of praise for the Odd Fellows and their treasurer, Richard Gorman, who was their liaison in making this happen for our kids. Thank you for making your way through our doors and into our hearts!”
Oustomah Lodge #16 was founded in Nevada City in 1853. Traditionally, the Odd Fellows “visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead, and educate the orphan”. We are currently undergoing a revival. Website coming soon. Find us on Facebook.
