June 12, 2017 – The County of Nevada is now accepting applications for our Citizen’s Academy, which offers a behind the scenes look at County Government. Citizen’s Academy provides insight into the array of services that help support a healthy, safe and vibrant community. Participants will have a chance to learn about the wide variety of services, tour various county facilities, and meet the dedicated employees who provide the services.
Where
Citizen’s Academy will take place at various locations in Grass Valley and Nevada City. Some classes will take place at the Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City, but participants will also have the opportunity to tour other County Facilities such as the Jail, the Airport, and the new Brighton Greens Resource Center.
When
Citizen’s Academy takes place on consecutive Monday evenings (excluding holidays) between September 11th and November 20th.

Why
The goal of Citizen’s Academy is to increase civic engagement and acquaint community leaders with the various functions of County Government. This is the fourth offering of this academy, and past participants have found the experience useful in improving their effectiveness in the community.
