GRASS VALLEY, Calif. February 9, 2024 – The Nevada County Camera Club proudly presents its third photography exhibit, “A Celebration of Water” at the Center for the Arts beginning March 8 through April 20, 2024, in honor of Photography Month. “This exhibit features a diverse collection of images that captures the awe-inspiring beauty of water in its many forms. We invite you on a journey to celebrate the inspirational power of water – from the dramatic waterfalls of Yosemite to the serenity at Lake Tahoe; the turbulence of ocean waves and a colorful swirl of the Yuba River,” said Mike Shea, Nevada County Camera Club President. This exhibit in the Granucci Gallery at The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley opens March 8 with a reception from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. The public is invited to attend.

“Water is such an important theme in photography that we chose to focus on it this year,” said Rachel Rosenthal, Nevada County Camera Club Photography Month Coordinator. “Who in Nevada County has not been mesmerized while sitting on the banks of the Yuba River, watching it dance as it makes its way through the canyon walls with incredible force? Our attention to water grounds us and makes us more aware of our surroundings, more aware of where we fit into the universe, and how our actions impact that universe,” continued Rosenthal.
A variety of other events including individual exhibits and photo walks for the public will round out the celebration of Photography Month in Nevada County.
April was identified as Photography Month by the Viewpoint Photographic Art Center in Sacramento. A variety of diverse and eclectic events are also planned in Sacramento, Placer, Yolo and El Dorado Counties. “Through Photography Month we aim to expand our appreciation of good photography and enhance our photographic skills while creating opportunities for the public to do so as well,” stated Shea.
