August 24, 2020 – Due to the recent wildfire event here in Nevada County as well as the numerous fires across the State, in the coming days it is possible that air quality could deteriorate into the unhealthy category here in Nevada County. The Nevada County Department of Agriculture reminds Farmers and Ranchers that if the Air Quality index for PM2.5 is 151 or greater, state regulation (8CCR 5141.1) require that employers take proper measures in order to protect their employees while working outdoors.
The Nevada County Department of Agriculture takes the protection of its agricultural farm workers very seriously. In order to assist those agricultural operations that have employees in complying with this state regulation, the Nevada County Department of Agricultural has teamed up with the California Department of Agriculture and the Department of Pesticide Regulation to distribute, free of charge, N95 respirator masks to agricultural operations in Nevada County.
