GRASS VALLEY, Calif. July 19, 2017 – Nevada County Habitat for Humanity (NCHFH) was represented in The Great Race. The Great Race takes vintage cars on a route from Traverse City, Michigan all the way to Jacksonville, Florida. Run from June 24 until July 2 with set stops all along the route, racers participate in their vintage autos raising money for charities along the way. Team Habitat raised nearly $10K through Nevada County contributions. Team Habitat consists of Penn Valley residents Bill and Carolyn Croker and their friends Lloyd and Linda Hodgin of St. Johns, New Brunswick. This is the 7th race for Bill and Carolyn. Each year they donate their winnings to charities.

Habitat’s race team came in 16th overall in a field of 120 cars and finished third in the Sportsmen’s Division, earning $4k in prize money, in addition to sponsorship donations. Funds raised by Team Habitat will go towards building the Abbott Family home in Grass Valley.

A reception for Team Habitat is being held from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 27 at Byers Design Center, 115 Idaho Maryland Road, Grass Valley. Join Byers in celebrating this effort and enjoy some vintage cars. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be served.
