It’s the finale week of the Summer Learning Program for the Nevada County Library. This week we are celebrating Italy with our theme: Reading Colors Your World. Pick up your free Italy Adventure Bag with cultural activities and country highlights at your local branch while supplies last. This week look forward to many fun events including the following programs:

Tuesday, July 27, at 2 pm Basics of Italian Genealogy: The Doris Foley Library will offer a free online presentation with tips and strategies for people starting to research their Italian ancestors on Zoom and Facebook Live.

Tuesday, July 27, at 4pm Random Acts of Science: Join Amy as she demonstrates a super fun science experiment on Facebook Live. Ages 4-12

Wednesday, July 28th at 5:30pm- Pizza Pie oh My: Italy will be featured in this virtual program via Zoom, with pizza slinging from four of staff members that are taking on making pizza from scratch at home.  This pizza demo will feature several different cooking devices, from a toaster oven, BBQ grill to a traditional oven and a multitude of different dough and topping options.  Make pizza with us or just watch the fun adventure of pizza making, including Italian trivia and prizes.

Thursday, July 29th at 4pm Teen Short Story Book Club: Teens, celebrate diversity and inclusion, discuss cultural intelligence, and investigate others’ perspectives from Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America.

Friday, July 30th at 3pm Jackson Pollock Paint Party: Join us at the Madelyn Helling Library to celebrate the artwork of Jackson Pollock! We’ll create our own Pollock inspired public art piece by splattering paint on one shared canvas. Art created will be displayed at the fair for all to see in the Northern Mines Building where you can chat with library staff and learn about new fall programs.

Kids and teens who participated in the Summer Learning Program can pick up their free book this week at the Grass Valley and Nevada City Branches. This is also the last week of summer lunches Monday- Friday at for kids under 18, 12pm at the Grass Valley and Nevada City Branches and Wednesday at the Penn Valley Branch.
